Born from a dream
Creating A Space For Connection
Dave from Canada and Andy from the U.S. are best friends who shared a vision. Together, they traveled the world in search of a place to create a space for connection, creativity, and well-being. Their journey led them to Punta Uva, Costa Rica. Captured by the Caribbean charm, they found, in Punta Uva, everything they were looking for. A place where the sea caresses the jungle, filled with biodiversity, authenticity, culture and beauty—a place both romantic and captivating. This dream began with two lifelong friends—Andy from the U.S. and Dave from Canada—who shared a passion for wellness, nature, and meaningful connection. Andy, a retired lawyer, had long felt call to wellness and yoga. His journey from the courtroom to the yoga mat was guided by the love for helping others care for their bodies and minds. He dreamed of creating a space where self-care and nature could meet. He brought his passion for wellness and self-care to the heart of the retreat. Dave, a skilled contractor, was the mastermind that brought that dream to life. His craftsmanship and love for design shaped every corner of Dragonfly Beach Retreat—from the villas to the hand-built details, blending beauty with harmony and respect for nature.
From their vision, Dragonfly Beach Retreat was created: a space designed with love and intention, where wellness, nature, and comfort intertwine. Today, it stands as an invitation—to slow down, reconnect, and experience the magic that inspired them to call this paradise home.

A Place of Deep Cultural Roots.
Only a short 30-45 minute drive, you'll find the Talamanca mountain region. Home to the Bribri and Cabécar people, who have lived in harmony with the land for generations. These two tribes are the largest indigenous groups in Costa Rica. Their deep connection to the land is evident in their traditions, from natural farming to spiritual ceremonies. The Bribri, known for their matrilineal society, hold cacao as a sacred plant, using it in rituals to honor their ancestors. The Cabécar, known for their seclusion and preservation of ancient customs, live in harmony with the rainforest, guided by a profound respect for nature.
